IA solutions to pandemic problems
Most countries in the world are evaluating possible solutions that will allow their populations to get out of quarantine and return to their jobs. There is a great challenge related to the return of citizens to their workplace, trying to contain as much as possible the spread and regrowth of the virus. Faced with this great challenge, IBM announced the launch of a selected set of model-based products and applications for artificial intelligence (AI), called Watson Works.
The main objective of Watson Works is to develop solutions that promote the health, safety and productivity of workers who return to their workplaces, always preserving privacy. IBM explained: "Watson Works provides data-driven insights to help employers make informed decisions about reentry into the workplace, office management, space allocation, and other priorities associated with COVID-19". Vice President of Cloud and Cognitive Software for IBM Latin America, Natalia De Greiff, said: “Using AI models and applications is particularly useful in this context, characterized by different sources of information that organizations should consider, and the constant dynamism of each aspect of the situation”.
Using some data provided by mobile phones, WiFi networks, cameras and bluetooth, Watson Works will allow employers to manage the facilities and optimize the allocation of space so that employees respect social distancing and sanitary security measures. It will also allow monitoring the health data of its employees to create a real-time analysis of cases of risk or suspected contagion. There are other specific applications that will be developed during the implementation of Watson Works in companies.
