David vs. Goliath
Efforts to combat the damage caused by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic are increasing. Companies dedicated to the development of blockchain technology are working on innovative solutions that help mitigate the spread of the pandemic. On May 19, CIO Peru reported the launch of a platform to share information to track the virus, called DAVID19. According to the publication: "Its launch is focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, but its use and information will be openly and universally available."
The development of the platform is the consequence of the coordinated work of various firms and companies related to blockchain technology. The CIO Peru media publication reveals the companies and firms behind DAVID19: "The launch was attended by Alejandro Pardo, IDB Lab principal specialist and LACChain leader; Irene Arias, IDB Lab CEO; Marcos Allende, coordinator LACChain's technology company, Moisés Menéndez, LACChain's senior advisor, and Alejandro Romero, LLYC's partner and CEO of the Americas."
In addition, the publication explains the operation of the platform and the solutions it offers to combat the spread of the pandemic: "DAVID19 is an ecosystem that is made up of four elements: a native application, a commite, a group of digital wallets and its social networks. Among all these elements, the main one is the application that will be downloaded by people who want to participate in the system. Although it is necessary to point out a caveat, the DAVID19 application is only an aggregator, which actually to have to download the citizens are the digital wallets that are the applications where they will actually enter their data."
