The team behind CryptoKitties and Flow Blockchain, Dapper Labs, revealed the partnership with Facebook's stablecoin project, Libra. The objective of the association is to share patented technology between both parties.
Dieter Shirley, CTO of Dapper Labs, explained that Libra will share Move technology to be incorporated into Dapper's Flow blockchain, while Libra will use Drapper's Cadence for scheduling their smart contracts. Shirley explained that both parties would benefit from each other's technologies and added: “Move was the first resource-oriented programming language, but it is designed for performance rather than readability and ease of use. Cadence, on the other hand, was designed for usability first, with a syntax inspired by Swift and Rust."
Both teams are working on different projects that complement each other, that is why the association is totally beneficial for both. This is how Shirley explained it: "The Libra team started with optimizing performance, [however] I knew that eventually they were going to need an ergonomic syntax that was easy to understand, but they would do that second. We knew we were going to need a highly efficient runtime with a low-level, highly optimized VM. But we were going to do that second. And so each of us has made the second half of the other."
